Salisbury

These photos were taken on Andrew's weekend off a couple of weeks back.  We went to Salisbury to see Up at the cinema and the farmer's market was on so we walked around for a while to browse.

Andrew was trying to get out of the frame.  Not quick enough Mr J!

The smells coming from this stall were insane - I wish I'd bought some semi-dried tomatoes.

Gloomy weather but it was a good day - although the lady in the middle of the pic probably wouldn't agree.

Mr J squirming at being in another photo.  This is one of the streets of Salisbury.

Inside the Odeon cinema building.  This section of the cinema was built in 1470 by John Halle, a wealthy wool merchant and clothier, and four-time mayor of Salisbury.

Original 1470 fireplace.  Alvin and the Chipmunks look bizarrely out of place.

The ceiling of the 15th century hall.

Ornate carved panelling.

Ironically, we didn't even get to see the movie that day as it was the weekend and the place was crawling with parents and children, so we decided to go another time when it is a bit quieter.

Wow, so much to see since I last looked. I just love English markets even if the weather is gloomy. You pick up more of the history than I seem to. The candles do look amazing and the bed looks really snuggly. I actually like the bedlinen - lots. Good luck for an interview. P

love the carved timber bits and pieces and it's so jaw dropping that stuff is so old but built by modern humans (you know what i mean!)
